INSTRUCTIONS
Phase 1: Research and Brainstorming
During our first class, we were introduced to the module, where the
module outline and expectations were shared. Assignment and projects were
briefed to us and we were required to complete our draft proposal and
compile visual references before Week 2. Below, I will briefly talk about
the topics I proposed to my group.
1. Linocut
I have always been intrigued by this printmaking technique. My research on
Linocut revealed that apparently many in the art community have disregarded
this medium due to its simplicity, claiming it lacking in challenge. This is
where I thought could be the research problem, that is to revive or sustain
this art technique for artistic mediums cannot be judged on the level of
difficulty, intricacy or elitism alone.

2. The Wes Anderson style
Being a huge fan of The Grand Budapest and Moonrise Kingdom, it was
no doubt for me to propose this topic to my groupmates. Wes Anderson
is a film director known for his eccentric film style that focuses
on the use of saturated color palettes and symmetrical shot
scenes.

3. Anthropomorphism
From the teapots and candles in Disney's Beauty and the Beast to Mickey, Donald, and Goofy, these anthropomorphic characters have played a big part in our childhood. This anthropomorphic topic was put forward to further understand the psychology behind and possibly create visuals or media based on it. As interesting as they sound, it was unrealistic and difficult for a bunch of Year 2 amateurs like us to create anything profound. Other ideas I had were tattoo cultures, tarot cards, and Early 2000s Disney cartoon styles.

Research, brainstorming, and discussions
Our group had a meeting where we pitched our topics and discussed which one
is appropriate and more importantly, which one captivated us and was
interesting enough for everyone to dive deep, commit to the topic to create
a quality outcome. Below shows the meeting slides used.

After the meeting, we went back to refine our topic. We worked on the research problem, research question, and research objectives. We also discussed the 5 preliminary ideas on how our final outcome would be. Below shows the slides we used to compile all our ideas and used these slides in our meetings.
