Week 2: Emphasis and Balance - coloured pencils, pens and markers
LECTURES
We had a Q&A session, where we ask Dr Charles questions we had from watching Week 1's lecture to clear any doubts. He reminded us to watch the prerecorded lecture, this time posted on Microsoft Teams. I wrote down some information as I watched the lecture which I later compiled with some visuals, images and posters I found on Pinterest. I have done a few handwritten notes on Procreate on my iPad as posted below. Dr Charles also made us cut out random shapes that we thought has a great emphasis effect. I cut out a bug and Dr Charles said I won!

TASK 2: Balance
REFLECTIONS
Between the two, Balance was particularly interesting to me because I have always had this intuition feeling but never understood why certain object placements look more aesthetically pleasing than when it is placed in other positions. It was enlightening to know that there were reasons behind this, as explained by the Balance design principle, The Golden Ratio and Rule of Thirds. I now have better knowledge on how to properly execute beautiful art pieces by applying these rules.
